Details
A flexible corrugated stainless steel hose, externally reinforced with stainless steel wire braid, fitted with steam union couplings on both ends.
Steam unions are designed for safe, leak-free connection and disconnection of steam lines without twisting the hose, making them ideal for high-temperature, high-pressure steam transfer.
Construction
-
Inner Hose
-
Corrugated stainless steel (SS304 or SS316) for flexibility and resistance to heat, pressure, and corrosion.
-
-
Braid Reinforcement
-
Single or double-layer stainless steel wire braid to enhance working pressure capacity and mechanical durability.
-
-
End Fittings – Steam Unions
-
Both ends fitted with male/female steam union couplings (usually in BSPT or BSPP thread) for quick connection.
-
Designed with sealing faces and locking collars for secure, pressure-tight joints.
-
Typical Specifications
-
Size Range: 1/2" to 4" (DN15 – DN100)
-
Working Pressure: Commonly up to 18–20 bar for saturated steam (higher ratings possible on request).
-
Temperature Range: –40 °C to +230 °C for saturated steam, up to +600 °C for certain superheated applications.
-
Material Options:
-
Hose & braid: SS304 / SS316
-
Steam unions: Carbon steel, brass, or stainless steel (depending on application)
-
-
Standards: Can be manufactured to ISO 10380 or BS 6501 for metal hoses; steam unions to BS 336 or equivalent.
Applications
-
Steam Transfer Lines – industrial processing plants, food & beverage, chemical manufacturing.
-
Autoclaves & Sterilizers – in pharmaceutical and medical equipment.
-
Heating Systems – textile mills, paper mills, and rubber processing.
-
Marine & Offshore – steam tracing, heating coils.
-
Factory Maintenance – portable steam cleaning and heating systems.
Advantages
-
High Safety – secure steam unions minimize leak risk at high temperatures.
-
Easy Installation – no twisting of the hose during coupling.
-
Durability – resistant to heat, pressure, abrasion, and vibration.
-
Flexibility – absorbs movement and misalignment between connections.
